Where Are They Now? 2011 Fisk Memorial Scholarship Recipient Marika Sitz
We recently caught up with Marika Sitz, a 2011 Pendleton High School graduate and past recipient of the Pendleton Foundation Trust Fisk Memorial Scholarship, whose path has taken her from the halls of PHS to Stanford, Oregon law, and now is making a direct impact on the future of natural resources across our region.
After graduating from PHS, Marika attended Stanford University, where she earned a BA in Human Biology with a concentration in Food and Agriculture Systems and had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in China.
Following graduation, she worked on water issues across the western region, including projects in the Umatilla Basin. Her deep interest in natural resources led her to pursue a law degree at the University of Oregon, where she graduated in 2021 and passed the Oregon Bar that summer.
Today, Marika is an attorney with Jordan Ramis PC, working from their Bend office. Her practice focuses on water and natural resources law, helping farms, businesses, and local governments across Oregon and Washington navigate water rights, management, and policy. She also supports statewide water policy efforts through the firm’s partnership with an Oregon agricultural trade association.
On the personal side, Marika recently married fellow PHS alum Nicholas Lacey (Class of 2012), and the two have been enjoying hiking, rafting, and skiing where they live in Central Oregon.
We’re proud to be a small part of Marika’s journey, and grateful for donors who make scholarships like the Fisk Memorial Scholarship possible.
